Port Campbell Hostel
Port Campbell Hostel

Welcome to the Port Campbell Hostel, the newest backpacker hostel on Victoria’s famous Great Ocean Road.  The hostel offers exceptionally well valued accommodation for backpackers in the heart of the Port Campbell National Park; the home of what are arguably the most photographed coastal attractions in Australia such as the London Bridge, Loch Ard Gorge and the iconic Twelve Apostles.

The hostel sits in the middle of Port Campbell (or simply ‘Port’ as it’s 400 or so locals normally call it), a small village that the latest Lonely Planet “Guide to Melbourne and Victoria” paints a great picture of!

…”Port Campbell is poised on a dramatic, almost perfectly rectangular natural bay that was eroded from the surrounding limestone cliffs. It’s a friendly town with some great bargain accommodation options, and makes an ideal spot for debriefing after the Twelve Apostles. The tiny bay has a lovely sandy beach, the only safe place for swimming along this tempestuous coast”.

Port’s famously located just 12 km down the road from the 12 Apostles (“12 ks, from the 12 As”), at the western end of the Great Ocean Road, a perfect 1-day road-trip from Melbourne (PC-Melbourne, via the Great Ocean Road (B100) is 290 km/180 mi).

Port Campbell Hostel - Reception

Hostel Reception

The hostel was opened in November, 2009. It provides modern accommodation for backpackers and budget travellers trekking down the Great Ocean Road in a facility that consistently ranks as one of the cleanest hostel’s in Australia

The hostel also regularly hosts groups travelling with some of Australia’s most popular adventure backpacker tour companies, such as Topdeck Tours, Adventure Tours Australia and Ride Tours.

In addition to enjoying all the natural benefits that the Port Campbell National Park offers, the district also throws up heaps of things to do… particularly for those who’re prepared to explore a little off the beaten track!

GOW100s

GOW100s

Great Ocean Walk 100s . 15 October 2011 . Apollo Bay – Twelve Apostles. This year, the hostel’s lacing up an old set of Nikes and stepping out to help with the 2011 GOW100s, an ultra-marathon that’s run over the Great Ocean Walk, from Apollo Bay to the Twelve Apostles. This year’s event is being run on Saturday 15th October and, like earlier “100s”, promises to be a beauty! Click on the link for an excellent summary of last year’s race or, for more information about this years race, click here or on the image alongside this paragraph.

We welcome you to the hostel, to Port Campbell, our stretch of the Great Ocean Road and to our surrounding district. If there’s anything we can do to help when you’re here just ask Bec, Marie or Tony in the hostel – they’ll do whatever they can to assist!
